
Wanda Matthews
Wanda joined the WEV Board of Directors in June 2022 and serves as Chair of the Quality Committee.
Wanda brings over 30 years of leadership experience in finance and operations, including 2 years in municipal government and 28 years in Nova Scotia’s health care system. As a senior executive, she has been committed to delivering fiscally responsible, accessible, and high-quality services to the communities she serves. Throughout her career, Wanda has developed a strong track record in financial strategy, project management, problem-solving, and team development. Her ability to lead in complex, dynamic environments has enabled her to build effective partnerships across sectors. In addition to her executive roles, Wanda has served in volunteer Board Executive positions, offering a broad perspective on board governance and a deep understanding of public service accountability.
Wanda achieved a Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 1992 at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of NS and attained a Bachelor of Business Administration at Saint Francis Xavier University in 1990.
Wanda enjoys opportunities for skills development, learning and connecting with others. Joining the Board allows Wanda to continue to contribute to the health and safety of seniors in our community. As well, she brings a resident’s family viewpoint having a parent who lived 11 years in a long-term care facility.
