Sharmay Beals-Wentzell
Sharmay joined the WEV Board of Directors in June 2021 and serves on the Quality Committee.
Sharmay has been working for the past twelve years as a Student Support Worker for the day Annapolis Valley Regional Center Education. Her job is to work with African Nova Scotian students, to make sure they stay in school and graduate. In saying that her mission is to never see any child left behind.
Sharmay is one of the co-founders of the Valley Anti-Racism Association. Through education and community projects their aim is to end systematic discrimination in the Valley and beyond.
Sharmay and her daughter work with different organizations such as: the West Hants Community Health Board, Injury Free Nova Scotia, Mayor, MLP, MP and many other organizations. Sharmay is also a member and chair of the West Hants Historical Society Diversity Committee.
Sharmay graduated with a Child & Youth Care Certificate from the Nova Scotia Community College Waterfront Campus before it became the Ivany Campus.
